Ohio’s Pace Per Mile Report for Week of February 20, 2012

You can also listen to my report on Pace Per Mile, the 1st Place for Endurance Radio HERE.
This is Sara from wordstorunby.com reporting on the Ohio race scene for Pace Per Mile Radio. As you may or may not know, February is the month to celebrate women’s heart health. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and more die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Heart health awareness is important to me for many different reasons, but mostly because my mother worked so hard to turn her health around and take care of her heart, despite a family history of this terrible disease. Exercise, good nutrition and running helped her make positive changes to her health, greatly decreasing her risk for heart attack and stroke over the last several years of her life. My mother was passionate about taking care of her heart, as we all should be. Visit the American Heart Associationtoday to find out more about Go Red for Women and heart healthy advice.
This week we’re celebrating Heart Health Awareness with The Greene Goes Red for the American Heart Association 2 Mile Run and Walk in Beavercreek, Ohio on February 26 at 9:00 a.m. What better way to promote a healthy heart than with a brisk run or walk? This movement celebrates the energy, passion, and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease, which I firmly believe in. Registration is $20 up until race day, although shirts cannot be guaranteed after February 18. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association. When you finish the race, visit the Health Fair at Urban Active Fitness. “Greene Money” will be offered to the Top 3 Overall Male and Female finishers and all entrants are eligible for door prizes, courtesy of The Greene. Visit  www.thegreene.com for more information.
There’s still time to register for the Green Jewel 50K Fun Run on Saturday, March 03. The Green Jewel 50K is a running event that showcases the Cleveland Metroparks. You will run from the Scenic Park(near the Marina) in Rocky River to the Oak Grove Picnic Area in Brecksville. Registration is $70 through February 29 and space is limited. This is a fun run and while the finishing time doesn’t really matter, participants of the 50K must finish in less than 7 hours. Registration is online only at www.eventbrite.com. I have never run an ultra-marathon, but if anyone is running this race, I would love to hear about the details!
Until next time, you can find me at wordstorunby.com to share your race day stories or offer feedback. Thanks for listening to Pace Per Mile Radio and see you at the next mile marker.
